Dragonhearts beat Pentre Hawks 3-1 in the first-ever Group East match to be played in the North Wales Ladies Recreational Football League.

Two games had already taken place in the West section, but Tuesday night saw action in the East get underway.

Dragonhearts of Rhyl came up against Abergele-based Pentre at St Asaph Leisure Centre, and what a fine game it turned out to be.

Pentre were playing their first-ever game together but really went at the opposition and showed plenty of promise for the future.

It was Dragonhearts who eventually won the game, though, Steph Davies, Caroline Williams and Jade Davies scoring for the Rhyl side, while Kirsty Roberts was on target for Pentre, who are managed by Phillip Peabody.

Dragonhearts are in very good hands, as their coaches are Emily Jones and Becca Bannister, both of whom have played in the Welsh Premier and are now members of the newly-formed NFA team which competes in North Wales League.

The Dragonhearts are sponsored by Teamtonyplasterers and Tuesday night saw them perform in their groovy new kit whose colours remind me of those lovely fruit sherbets you can still get here and there.

RESULTS

Group East October 16: Dragonhearts 3 (Steph Davies, Caroline Williams, Jade Davies) Pentre 1 (Kirsty Roberts)

Group West October 13: Queen Bees Eglwysbach 4 (Hannah Jones 2, Jo Trafford, Seren Kerfoot-Robson) Llanfairfechan Town 4 (Maddie Williams 3, Rachel Evans) October 14: Penrhyn Bay Panthers 1 (Eleanor Slack) Mochdre Lionesses 2 (Alicia Stretton 2)
